Vinted Fees UK Explained: What Sellers and Buyers Pay (2026)
The short answer: sellers pay nothing on Vinted. Zero fees, zero commission. You list a jumper for £15, someone buys it, you get £15.
The buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee on top of the item price, plus shipping. Here’s exactly how it all works. If you’re new to Vinted, see our complete guide to selling on Vinted UK first.
Seller fees: £0
Vinted does not charge sellers any fees at all. No listing fee, no final value fee, no commission. This is the main reason Vinted has become so popular with UK resellers — especially for lower-value items where eBay business seller fees would eat most of the profit.
You set your price. The buyer pays that price. The full amount goes to your Vinted Wallet when the transaction completes. Transferring from your Wallet to your bank account is also free.
To put this in context: one of the most upvoted posts on r/eBaySellerAdvice is a seller who listed a book for $4 and lost money because eBay charged fees on the total including shipping. Another sold a golf bag for $68 and made $6 profit after all fees and postage. Those scenarios don’t happen on Vinted — your listed price is what you get.
This is why Vinted has become the go-to platform for selling clothes in the UK. When you’re selling a £5–10 item, even a 13% fee from eBay business selling would wipe out the margin. On Vinted, that £5 item earns you £5.
The only thing a seller can optionally pay for is Bumps — Vinted’s promoted listing feature. This pushes your item higher in search results for a few days. It costs a small amount (varies by item price) and is entirely optional. Most sellers don’t use it.
Buyer Protection fee: 3–8% + £0.30–£0.80
Every Vinted purchase includes a Buyer Protection fee, paid by the buyer (not deducted from the seller). According to Vinted’s official price list, it’s typically:
- 3% to 8% of the item price
- Plus a fixed fee of £0.30 to £0.80
The exact amount varies based on the item, order value, and whether it’s a single item or a bundle. The fee is shown to the buyer at checkout before they pay.
What the Buyer Protection fee covers:
- Refund if the item doesn’t arrive
- Refund if the item is significantly not as described
- Vinted customer support to resolve disputes
- Secure payment processing
This fee is non-refundable, even if the buyer returns the item.
Shipping costs: paid by the buyer
The buyer also pays for shipping. When you list an item, you choose a parcel size (small, medium, or large). When the buyer checks out, they see the shipping cost for available couriers and pick one.
Available UK shipping options include Evri, Royal Mail, InPost, and Yodel. The cost depends on the courier and parcel size. See Vinted’s shipping methods page for current options and pricing.
You (the seller) don’t pay for postage. Vinted generates a prepaid label or QR code that you use to send the item. You must use Vinted’s provided label — you can’t buy your own postage separately.
Worked example: what does a £15 sale look like?
Let’s say you list a branded jumper for £15 on Vinted.
What the seller gets
- You receive: £15.00 (your full listed price)
- Vinted deducts: £0.00
- Your payout: £15.00
What the buyer pays
- Item price: £15.00
- Buyer Protection fee (example at 5% + £0.70): £1.45
- Shipping (example Evri small parcel): £2.69
- Buyer’s total: £19.14
The seller gets £15. The buyer pays £19.14. Vinted takes £1.45 from the buyer for protection. The courier gets £2.69 for shipping.
How Vinted fees compare with other platforms
| Platform | Seller fees | Who pays the extra? |
|---|---|---|
| Vinted | 0% | Buyer pays 3–8% protection fee |
| eBay UK (private) | 0% (up to ~300 listings/month) | No extra fees for either side |
| eBay UK (business) | ~13% total | Seller pays all fees |
| Depop | 0% (+ 2.9% + 30p payment processing) | Buyer pays protection fee |
| Facebook Marketplace | 0% (local pickup) | No fees for local sales |
For fashion items, Vinted and eBay (as a private seller) are both effectively free to sell on. eBay private sellers get around 300 free listings per month — above that, there’s a 35p insertion fee per listing (see our full eBay fees breakdown and eBay fee calculator). The choice comes down to audience: Vinted has a fashion-focused, younger buyer base, while eBay reaches a broader audience across all categories.
If you’re selling clothing, Vinted is often the better option. For non-fashion items, eBay or Facebook Marketplace are stronger choices.
Do sellers pay for anything?
In normal use, no. But there are two optional costs:
- Bumps (promoted listings): Pay to push your listing higher in search results. Optional and most sellers don’t use them
- Wardrobe Spotlight: A newer feature that promotes your entire shop (wardrobe) rather than individual items. Also optional
Neither of these is required. You can sell successfully on Vinted without spending anything.
What about returns and disputes? If a buyer opens a dispute and Vinted sides with them, you’ll need to accept the return. Vinted typically provides a return label, but in some cases the return postage situation can be unclear. Honest, accurate listings with good photos are the best way to avoid disputes. See Vinted’s Buyer Protection details for how disputes are handled.

Track your Vinted profit per item
No seller fees doesn’t mean no costs. You still paid for the item, and if you sourced it at a car boot sale you had entry fees and petrol too. FlipperHelper tracks everything so you know your real profit on every Vinted sale.
