How to Sell on Poshmark in Canada (2026)
Poshmark Canada is a separate marketplace from Poshmark US. You sign up with a Canadian account, sell in CAD, ship via Canada Post (the buyer pays a flat $13.49 CAD or $4.49 CAD with a seller-offered discount), and pay $3.95 CAD flat under $20 or 20% commission at $20+. The platform's strength is the social feed and Posh Parties; its weakness is that the 20% commission hurts on low-value items.
This guide walks through set-up, listing mechanics, shipping, Posh Parties, offers, and the operational quirks that catch new Canadian sellers off guard.
Step 1: How to set up a Poshmark Canada account
- Download Poshmark from the App Store.
- Sign up with email or Apple ID. Select Canada as your country (this routes you to Poshmark Canada).
- Pick a username — this becomes your @handle and is permanent. Use short brandable patterns (e.g. VintageYYC, ThriftToronto, NameFinds) and avoid long strings of numbers.
- Upload a profile photo and write a short bio (where you ship from, what categories you focus on, response time).
- Connect a Canadian bank account for payouts via direct deposit.
- Verify your identity if Poshmark asks (a photo ID, usually).
Step 2: List your first item on Poshmark Canada
- Photograph the item against a plain background in natural daylight. 4–8 photos: front, back, brand label, condition close-up, measurements with a tape, any flaws.
- Tap "+" in the Poshmark app to start a new listing.
- Upload your photos in the order you want them displayed.
- Title: Brand + Item + Size + Color. Example: Lululemon Align Leggings Size 6 Black NWT. (NWT = New With Tags.)
- Description: Brand, size, condition (NWT, EUC, GUC, fair), measurements, materials, any flaws, item story (if relevant). Honest > inflated.
- Category and subcategory. Get this right — Poshmark's search and feed depend on it.
- Original retail. If you know what the item cost new, enter it. Affects the "% off retail" display buyers see.
- Listing price. Aim for $20+ so the 20% commission applies instead of the $3.95 flat fee (which is 20%+ on a $19 item). Add 10–15% above your firm number for negotiation room.
- Submit. Listing is live in minutes.
Step 3: How often to share listings on Poshmark Canada
Poshmark's algorithm rewards sharing. Two behaviours:
- Share your own closet daily. Sharing each of your listings to your followers (the "share to followers" button on each listing) refreshes its position in the feed.
- Share other people's closets. Reciprocity is the Poshmark culture — share their items, they share yours, both your listings get more views.
Many active sellers share dozens to hundreds of listings daily. Expect 30–60 minutes/day for an active closet. There's no automated sharing solution Poshmark approves of.
Step 4: Join Posh Parties — which to pick and when to share
Posh Parties are 2-hour themed events Poshmark runs (e.g. "Winter Layers", "Designer Bag", "Activewear"). During the party window, you share relevant listings to the party feed for boosted visibility. Themes are announced in the Parties tab — join parties in your category and share 5–15 minutes after the party starts (when early traffic is highest).
Active Canadian sellers participate in 2–4 parties per week, sharing 30–50 listings per party. The view spike is real but the conversion to sale is modest — Posh Parties are a discovery channel, not a sales accelerator.
Step 5: Handle offers and lowballs
Two offer mechanics:
- Buyer-initiated offers. Buyer offers below asking. You accept, counter, or decline.
- Seller "Offer to Likers". You send a discount + shipping offer to everyone who liked your item, valid for 24 hours. Many of your sales will come from this mechanic.
Lowballing is rampant on Poshmark — common offers are 40–50% of asking. Three responses: decline silently (Poshmark has an auto-decline setting at a threshold you choose), counter once at your firm number, or accept if the offer is within 10% of your floor. The r/poshmark thread "Lowballing offers comes with selling on Poshmark" (430 upvotes) is the canonical view: don't take it personally, decline and move on.
Step 6: Ship the sale
- When an item sells, Poshmark emails you a prepaid Canada Post Expedited Parcel label.
- Pack the item in a clean box or sturdy polymailer. Include a tissue-wrap or thank-you note if you can (repeat-buyer flow).
- Print the label (home printer or Canada Post location).
- Drop the parcel at any Canada Post location, post box, or Shoppers Drug Mart with a Canada Post counter.
- Mark the item as shipped in the Poshmark app once dropped.
- Tracking is automatic. Once delivered, the buyer has 3 days to accept or open a case. If they accept (or stay silent), Poshmark releases the funds to your balance.
Step 7: Withdraw your earnings
Once your Poshmark balance exceeds $1 CAD, you can request a direct deposit to your Canadian bank account. Processing is 1–3 business days, no fee. You can also redeem your balance to your linked PayPal or as Poshmark credits (which buy more inventory at full retail — rarely a good move for sellers).
What actually sells on Poshmark Canada — top brands & categories
- Lululemon (the dominant Canadian Poshmark category) — Align Leggings, Define Jackets, Scuba hoodies. Authenticate carefully; counterfeits are common.
- Aritzia (Wilfred, Babaton, TNA, Sunday Best) — strong Canadian recognition
- Canada Goose — but Real-CG only; fakes destroy your account if reported
- Arc'teryx — similar story
- Roots — vintage and modern
- Designer secondhand — Coach, Michael Kors, Kate Spade in mid-range; Gucci, Louis Vuitton in higher-tier (authenticate)
- Modern fast fashion if barely used (Zara, H&M) — works at the lower end
Tracking your Poshmark Canada activity
Poshmark shows you total balance and per-listing stats but doesn't help with sourcing cost or per-item real profit. For that, log each item in a separate tracker — what you paid at Value Village/Goodwill, the listing price, the sold price, fees, packaging.
The FlipperHelper iOS app handles this in CAD natively, tracks listings across Poshmark + Mercari + Kijiji + eBay CA + 12 more platforms, and shows real CAD profit per item. Free, works offline at the thrift store counter.
FAQ
Can I sell to US buyers from a Canadian Poshmark account?
No — Poshmark Canada and Poshmark US are separate marketplaces with separate inventories. You'd need a separate US account, US payout, and US shipping setup.
How long does an item typically take to sell?
Varies wildly. Some sell in hours (active buyers in a hot category), some sit for months. Median for a well-listed item in an active category: 2–4 weeks. Closet sharing discipline is the biggest accelerator.
What if a buyer reports an item as not-as-described?
Poshmark holds the funds and reviews. If the photos and description match the item, Poshmark usually sides with the seller. If the listing was misleading (wrong size, undisclosed damage), the buyer can return at Poshmark's cost. Document everything in the listing to defend the sale.
Can I use Posh credits to source inventory?
Theoretically yes — your Poshmark balance can be used to buy from other Poshmark closets. In practice, retail-adjacent Poshmark prices rarely make resale economics work. Most successful CA Poshmark sellers source from thrift, not from other Poshmark closets.
How does Poshmark Canada compare to Mercari Canada?
Poshmark has a more social, fashion-curated audience. Mercari is more transactional and general-purpose. Cross-listing both is standard practice — first to sell takes it. See How to Sell on Mercari (Canada).
